Here at TCS Woodlands we provide training for woodland stalking and also accompanied stalks for those wishing to try the sport or to get involved in managing of deer.

The training we provide is solely through D&G Consultants (UK) Ltd This allows us to take clients new to stalking through a basic introductory accompanied stalk. Clients need to pass a shooting test (a rifle and ammo can be provided) and are then given some stalking training, deer identification, saftey and legal training and then taken for a stalk in our managed woodlands.

The price for this is £85 per person.

A 2 day introduction to woodland stalking is also available, this covers all of the above subject matter in greater depth, allows for 2 accompanied stalks and also includes a written assessement paper using the questions from the DSC level 1 exam. This course is generally tailored for the type of stalking that the client will be taking. Should a client wish to be taking hill stalking in the highlands then D&G will put them onto one of our associates in Scotland for that training.

The course costs £300 and is a very much 1 to 1 training session with lots of practical work involved. The syllabus is tailored to the clients needs but will use the DSC 1 exam questions as the basis of its exam paper. This training has been recognised as suitable for FAC applicants not wishing to take the DSC1 route or for those wanting to take in some stalking before attempting the exam. The DSC level 1 exam can be passed without ever having been stalking, owning rifle or seen a deer in the flesh so to speak.

 here is a trainee in a high seat during an evening stalk, he has practised the safe accessing of the seat, making the rifle safe and climbing into the seat;

The training involves safety work, identifying quarry and whether a shot is safe, legal or necessary. Census, cull targets and larder records are explained.

 Another trainee takes the shooting test, this time from a simulated high seat;

Here is the result of a successful stalk by two of our trainees;

We are running two new training courses at TCS Woodlands;

1. Deer Hide and Trophy preparation for those of you interested in processing your own hides and heads.

2. Field To Freezer for those recreational stalkers unable to find a friendly butcher or game dealer or for those just interested in the DIY side of the food chain.

Both of these courses are available all year providing materials are to hand and will be priced shortly.

 We are also able to offer access to an NVQ assessor and assist with your verification if you are one of our trainees or already hold either of the DSC certificates.
