All occupiers have statutory obligations regarding wild rabbits that are harbouring on their land.
An Order has been made under Section One of the Pests Act 1954 by which England and Wales (except for the City of London, the Isles of Scilly and Skokholm Island) have been declared a Rabbit Clearance Area. In this area, every occupier of land is responsible for controlling wild rabbits on his/her land or for taking steps to prevent them causing damage. This is a continuing obligation.
In effect management of woodland and its wildlife means that control of species either with no natural predators such as deer or capable of causing serious damage such as rabbits is an obligation which can bring in additional income.
When dangerous pests are identified we call in a licensed by locl authority controller to eradicate them, normally however for rabbits, woodpigeons, grey squirrels, Canada Geese and Deer we take this on ourselves.
We manage sporting leases with cull targets to meet based on scientific census taking. Provided we achieve thesetargets then we ensure that we are good neighbours to others.
