TCS Woodlands have through provision of guided deer management been able to add another income stream, that of venison sales, to the woodland owners benefit.
A deer census takes place but at TCS Woodlands we also assess each plot for additional provision of sporting shooting. This ensures that should such sport be available the use of he woodland is controlled and managed to ensure that animal damage is kept to a minimum and income is kept to a maimum. Many woodlands lend themseves to release of reared Pheasantsand Partridges, this usually entails erection of temporary release pens. The release pens and feeders are sited in agreement with the woodland warden and the owner with a view to other users of the woods such as horse riding permit holders and dog walkers.
Such pens appear to be permanent yet rarely have a life of more than 3 years, feeders are also temporarily sited to allow supported feeding of the game birds.
We at TCS Woodlands can construct release pens with as little as 48 hours notice of delivery of birds, however the siting of such pens should not be on access alone.
These pens ensure that Pheasant Poults reach maturity in as natural a surrounding as possible whilst being fed and protected.
